There are people in this room who hate History because of the way we were taught men and battles, written by the victors without any nuance.

I love History so much that I wrote a textbook about it, that is used in Australian high schools today.

Let's go back in time: the first civilisations, in Europe and Asia, grew under the lucky latitudes. They needed good weather and rivers.

To appreciate how LONG they lasted: Cleopatra, near the end of that era, is actually closer to the iPhone than the Pyramids.
